Over the last few months, the Building and Construction Authority together with the Building Licensing Committee have been working intensively on the new obligations of the Masons’ Licence so that as from Monday 17th February 2025, the Authority will start receiving applications from both new applicants or masons wishing to renew their licence.
The applications will remain open until 2nd March and can only be accessed through the website of the Building and Construction Authority www.bca.org.mt.
Those interested in applying, will be requested to fill in an online form by providing personal details and uploading the following documentation:
If an applicant is not a person habitually resident in Malta, an equivalent document issued by a competent judicial or administrative authority of the country of habitual residence shall be provided instead.
The application also provides the mandatory field to choose the date and location of the compulsory courses related to both new and renewal of Masons’ Licences. Once the date is selected it cannot be changed.
The modules of the course for both new and renewal of licences are health and safety, applicable laws, geometry and concrete structures.
First time applicants must not only attend the obligatory course but also sit for the theoretical and practical examination. The theory exam will take place between the 21st and the 26th of April 2025, whereas the practical exam will take place between 5 and 17 May 2025.
This process is part of another reform aimed at improving the health and safety of all those who are part of this sector, the well-being of third parties adjacent to construction sites as well as all those who will be investing in property.
