The Board of the Building and Construction Authority met for the first time after it was reappointed and appointed Architect Roderick Bonnici as the new acting Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
Minister for Justice and Reform of the Construction sector Jonathan Attard took the opportunity to meet with board members and congratulated Architect Bonnici on his appointment within this authority which is continuing to establish a stronger role in the construction sector.
“The appointment of Architect Bonnici is being made at a time when a restructuring process will be carried out within the authority, in such a way that it continues to respond more effectively and fulfills the government’s commitment to continue raising standards in the construction sector, in line with the electoral manifesto and recommendations of the public inquiry,” said Minister Jonathan Attard.
Architect Bonnici, who was head of the section approving permit applications within the Building and Construction Authority, is graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering and Architecture and also qualified with a Masters in Project Management from the University of Malta.
He had already made a substantial contribution in the Enforcement Section of the Building Regulations Office, within the authority and in the section covering avoidance of damages to third parties. Previously he also worked in the infrastructure sector with a public agency and in the construction sector on private as well as public projects.
